Google Chromecast is generally a neat feature that allows you to stream media from the internet to a device of your choice. However, recently there have been complaints about the No Cast Devices Found error, where the Chromecast app seems to be unable to find one or more devices that you want to stream to. When the error occurs, it is displayed in the top-right corner of your Chrome browser. There can be a number of different reasons responsible for this particular issue. In the following guide we will attempt to address the most typical cause for this No Cast Devices Found error and help you fix it, so that you may use the app uninterrupted by any nagging errors.

Before we get to the actual guide, however, here are several tips you can try that might resolve the error for you.

  • Restart your router and check your internet connection – connection problems could be a potential reason for the inability of Chromecast to find the device or devices.
  • Make sure that you have properly set up Chromecast: A message should be displayed on the screen of your TV or whatever device you are using that reads Ready to Cast. Also, both your computer and the streaming device should be connected to the same Wi-Fi network, so ensure that this is indeed the case.

The Guide

In most cases, the no cast devices found error is caused by a conflict between Chromecast and some other software on your PC that has set up an additional Private Network on your PC. Many different programs do that and sometimes it might be difficult to determine, which is the one that is causing the issue. Fortunately, there is an easy way to find out and have the problem solved in no time. This guide will show you what you need to do.

  1. Open the Run window by pressing Winkey+R on your keyboard.
  2. Type devmgmt.msc in the search field and hit Enter.chromecast2
  3. Once the Device Manager opens, click on the arrow next to Network Adapters to expand the list.
  4. Look through the entries and single out the ones that are labeled as private networks. Such networks are the ones that are causing the error with Chromecast.
  5. Right-click on each private network and select Disable.          chromecast1
  6. Return to your browser – the app should no longer be displaying the no cast devices found error message and your streaming device should now be detected.

Disclaimer: This is only one possible fix for when the issue is caused by a private network conflicting with Chromecast. However, the same error might be caused by a different issue that requires a different fix.

Didnt work for me. weird that every other PC I have can still cast, also phones. I can see the Chromecast device in Network and I can even ping its IP address, but still says “No devices found” when I click the icon in Chrome.

Followed your advice (Windows 10, Chromecast, Chrome browser). With the Device Manager open, I tried to find “private networks” under Network Adapters. There were several Network Adapters……how am I to know which are “private”? I don’t think I should disable or uninstall items which I am not familiar with?

Went to network and adaptors but did not see private network. How do I identify.

Ho seguito il tuo consiglio però ho disabilitato il firmwa
re del dispositivo. Subito chromecast ha ripreso a funzionare.
