Maybe you are wondering why your browser has started displaying numerous diverse ads while you are trying to surf the web. Maybe you have already researched the matter and you are aware of the fact that the cause of this mass pop-up and ads generation is an infection with SavingsCool “Virus”– an Adware-based product whose main expertise is exactly affecting all browser versions (Firefox, Chrome, Explorer). For more details on that topic, please continue reading.
SavingsCool and how it may compromise your browsing experience
As you have already read, this programs is a version of advertisement-displaying software or Adware for short. All such programs are able to produce great numbers of pop-ups, tabs, boxes, banners and other ads in various shapes, colors and intensity of appearing. All this happens when you are trying to explore the web using your browser and it doesn’t matter exactly which one you use because adware is usually perfectly capable of affecting all of them.
How an infection usually occurs
The creators of SavingsCool use a great range of methods to spread this ad-producing product: websites, spam, torrents, even hyperlinks. Despite that, the most preferred method is a process named software bundling. This is the activity of mixing various versions of original programs and ad-broadcasting programs together and then offering them to the public for free. Actually, these bundles still bring money to their developers, as the Adware inside them generates paid ads, and the programmers make money out of every single banner, pop-up or other advertisement that’s clicked. If you are wondering whether such activities are legitimate, the answer is yes, as they are just regular marketing practices. Something else you should know about the way SavingsCool gets spread is the exact method it gets incorporated into your system. Usually such contamination may occur if you download a bundle and after that proceed to install it in a wrong way. The wrong features of the installer, which help the infection are usually named Automatic, Default or Quick. The ones that you should use in case you want to select what to incorporate into your system and what to avoid installing from a particular bundle are called Advanced or Customized.
Does SavingsCool belong to any group of viruses?
The answer here is no and you shouldn’t expect any malicious effects from this Adware-based program. SavingsCool could be relatively irritating but it’s also quite innocuous. No identity theft, stealing of banking details or other account credentials, hijacking data or destroying and corrupting files can come as a result of an infection with this program. It doesn’t have any qualities or traits that could be viewed as harmful. Still, it may possess some characteristics that may tarnish its reputation such as keeping track of your browsing history with the intention of determining your personal preferences and base the content of the generated ads on that. As a result, you might start noticing only pop-ups and banners that closely resemble your recent search requests. Also, the generation of a big number of advertisements might lead to a slowdown of your device, as the ads might consume a lot of CPU and RAM depending on the amounts of your system resources. These features have contributed to the classification of Adware as a potentially unwanted piece of software.
