How To Remove Ads By Provider

So, you’ve got Ads by Provider entangled into your computer and you’re being bombarded by all sorts of awful ads and unnecessary redirections, etc. Fret not, this guide will help you deal with the issue and make certain you’re armed with all the knowledge to prevent this from happening to you again.

Here are some of the symptoms you may be experiencing: odd, random hyperlinks on webpages, where there should be plain text; unasked for redirections to other websites; myriads of banners on sites they clearly don’t belong on and annoying pop-ups. These are all characteristic traits of a software type known as Adware, to which Ads by Provider belongs. It’s not to be confused with Malware – those are dangerous and harmful programs, such as viruses, whereas Ads by Provider is pretty much harmless to your computer. This however doesn’t mean you should abstain from uninstalling from your machine. The fact that Ads by Provider itself won’t cause any damage to your PC won’t guarantee that it can’t potentially lead to problems.

How does Ads by Provider operate and what does it want?

Adwares like this one typically integrate into your browser (Chrome, Firefox, IE) and collect your browsing info, for the sake of generating more relevant advertisements. The developers rely on you clicking the ads, because that is what earns them money, hence their desire to make those ads more attractive to you. This is the so called Pay per click scheme, where all that matters to them is literally only the click of the mouse. Therefore, it’s a good idea to avoid clicking on these, because not only will there most likely not be anything of use to you upon following those links or banners, but they might actually lead you to some malicious website. And from then on – it’s only a matter of seconds before viruses start infiltrating your system.

Another good reason for you to remove this program is the fact that it and others like it are known to sell this collected info of yours (along with your personal data) to third parties. So there’s really no telling just how serious the consequences of this might be.

Why is it on my PC?

Well, unfortunately, it’s because knowingly or unknowingly you put it there. Chances are you had downloaded something else (a file or program) from one of the multitude of existing open-source download websites onto your computer and Ads by Provider was bundled into it. It’s a sneaky trick that adware developers use in order for people to actually install their product, but it works.

Once you’ve chosen the default setup option of your desired program, you’re basically placing yourself at the mercy of the program creators or distributors. That means they can automatically add everything they please to the installation process without asking for your specific permission to, because you already gave it to them. Therefore, it’s better to go for the advanced or custom option, and don’t let those words scare you into thinking there’s really something advanced and complicated going on. You will simply have the ability to see what additional softwares (more specifically, adwares, as it is in our case) are bundled into the one you’re installing and then you can decide whether or not to include them. By just unticking the ticked boxes next to the unwanted or unfamiliar names you will already have saved yourself the time and energy of dealing with what you’re dealing with now.

Just a few more tips

It’s safe to say that it is way easier to avoid a problem than having to deal with removing it. That being mentioned, try to stay away from shady websites and don’t download things from sources you don’t trust. In addition to this, make sure you have a good, functioning antivirus on your computer, to make browsing safer and, if not prevent, at least make existing threats known, so that they can be addressed properly.

Follow the steps in this guide to remove Ads by Provider from your computer and once you’re done, you can double check for any leftover components of the adware, so as to safely delete those and be completely adware-free. Make sure to also run a virus check at the end of it all – better safe than sorry.
