The Sticky Keys dialog box may pop up spontaneously on your screen when you least expect it and interrupt your current activity. It usually happens when you press the Shift key five times in a row. This dialog box is surely annoying, especially because it shows up, again and again, every day or two even if you click “No” every time it appears. And while it could be a helpful accessibility feature for some people, for most users, it is simply an undesired and sometimes irritating pop-up on their screen. That’s why in this guide, we are going to show you how to fix this and stop it from appearing permanently.

How to Turn Off Sticky Keys in Windows

The easiest way is to click on the “Go to Ease of Access Center” link once the dialog box has shown up. If you have skipped this option and simply have closed the box, here is what you need to do to find the right menu. You can navigate to the Control Panel from your Start Menu. Then, click on “Ease of Access Center” and navigate to the “Make the keyboard easier to use” option as shown in the picture below.

Click on it to open it. Once there, check that the “Turn on Sticky Keys” box is turned off. This means that the feature is not currently activated, however, this doesn’t mean that the annoying dialog box won’t pop up again.
In order to disable the Sticky Keys dialog box notification, you will need to click on the “Set up Sticky Keys” option as showed below:

Next, you need to remove the check mark from the box for “Turn on Sticky Keys when SHIFT is pressed five times”. Then click “Apply” to confirm the change in the settings.

This should disable the notification from appearing on your screen for Windows 7 or Vista.

There are three available options to turn off the Sticky Keys in Windows 10:

Option 1: The fastest is to use keyboard shortcuts. For that, just simultaneously press two keys from the keyboard – it can be Ctrl, Alt, Shift, Windows Logo Key, etc.
Option 2: Use the options in the “Ease of Access” keyboard settings.

Option 3: Disable the Sticky Keys via Control Panel.

This is it, now you have disabled the notification box in Windows 10.
