The Guide

Fix 1:

  1. Locate the drive where Windows is installed (this will usually be Disk C: ) and open the Windows folder. Alternatively, you can press and hold down the Windows Key + R. Type in the following: C:\Windows, after which click OK.
  2. You should now be in the Windows folder. Right-click somewhere inside (not on any of the other folders), then select New and click on Folder. Name the folder AppReadiness. This should solve the issue.

Fix 2:

  1. Sometimes the error may occur due to your WiFi connection. If this is your case, you can try using a wired connection instead. Do this by connecting your router and computer with the help of an Ethernet cable.
  2. After you’ve plugged the cable in, press and hold the Windows Key + R. Type in ncpa.cpl and hit Enter. 
  3. Locate your wireless adapter and right-click on it, after which click on Disable.
  4. Try to update or download whatever it was you wanted and if successful, right-click on your adapter again to enable it.

Fix 3:

  1. An alternative cause for the Error 0x80073CF9 could be the Store’s inability to write to the Packages folder; hence it doesn’t have access to it. The Packages folder is located in the folder Windows -> AppRedepository. To solve this, you need to first make visible all hidden files and folders. In the Start menu, go to Control Panel and select Appearance and Personalization. Go to Folder Options -> View. Under Advanced Settings click on Show hidden files, folders and drives, after which press OK
  2. Open the Windows folder and right-click the AppRedepository folder in it. Click on Properties, then go to Security -> Advanced. Select Continue Allow Full System Access to ALL APPLICATION PACKAGES and SYSTEM.
