[bannerTop]

In this article we are going to try and help you remove Epicunitscan.info “Malware”. Our instructions cover all Windows versions as well as most browsers – Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer etc.

We all want a smooth, uninterrupted, high-quality browsing experience when we are surfing the web. Whether it’s for work or leisure, our browser needs to be as fast and efficient as possible. And while there are a lot of minor factors that can slightly slow it down, for the most part our wish is granted. However, at times a program comes by that makes everything about your online experience turn on its head. Your clear Chrome, IE or Chrome interface gets covered with weird new toolbars, your search engine of choice is replaced with some obscure-looking one that you’ve never heard about before and your homepage greets you with some unknown sketchy website you see for the first time. What is happening!? Things were fine yesterday…

Meet Epicunitscan.info – a Browser Hijacker

The new program never asked for your permission. Instead, it took the liberty of messing with your browser/s and making them nearly impossible to use without getting enraged after you realize that the intrusive program does not allow you to revert the changes. This is what this type of unwanted software called Browser Hijacker does. Epicunitscan.info is only one example of such a program and since it is one of the most recently released, we decided to focus on it in the current article. Though the negative effects that it usually has on users’ browsers can be incredibly frustrating, in reality it should not be all that difficult to deal with the issue as long as you know what to do. Here, you can find all the information that you might need regarding those pesky programs in order to remove them and ensure that none of them gets installed on your PC ever again.

What is Epicunitscan.info used for? Is it a virus?

Surely, the nagging Hijacker does things without your permission and for the most part those things are an absolute pain in the neck. However, Epicunitscan.info is not some form of a Trojan horse or Ransomware. Browser Hijackers, though commonly referred to as malware, are usually harmless on their own. Most of the time they are used as Internet marketing tools, which is one of the main reasons why they are so nagging and obstructive. Through a number of different features related to online marketing, those programs are able to generate income for their developers. You, on the other hand, are left with the unwanted toolbars, homepage and search engine coming from the Hijacker (until you have it removed).

The fact that Epicunitscan.info is not malicious Ransomware or other type of nasty virus does not mean that you should not remove the program, as soon as you are done reading this. Hijackers might not be dangerous in the majority of cases, but they are certainly not something you’d want to have on your PC. Apart from its ability to nag you with its presence and the changes it has enforced upon your browser, there are a couple of more things that you should be aware of when it comes to programs like Epicunitscan.info.

How to avoid installing Epicunitscan.info

Alas, removing the pesky Hijacker is not enough to fully ensure that your machine is clean and safe. You also must make sure to prevent these programs from entering your system in the future. Browser Hijacker developers use all sorts of distribution methods for their software such as junk mail, deceptive ads and downloadable content from less reputable websites. However, as long as you use your common sense, you will be fine with regards to these. The fact is that most of the time people land Browser Hijackers by installing software bundles. A software bundle is basically a program that has additional applications added in its installer file. To avoid installing the added content, you must carefully look through the installation menu and find the list of added applications. Then, you must uncheck the ones that look suspicious and could turn out to be a Hijacker. If you do not see such a list, look for an Advanced/Custom installation option, since this is often where the added installs are hidden.
