Nvlddmkm.sys BSOD Error in Win10/7 Fix

In the following article and guide manual we will be focusing on what causes the irritating nvlddmkm.sys BSOD error and how you can fix it so it does not appear any more.

Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) crashes are not uncommon and there are very many different potential causes for them. The issue might be both with your hardware and your software and oftentimes it is difficult to determine where the problem actually lies. However, if the error message is something among the lines of display driver nvlddmkm.sys stopped responding and has successfully recovered and/or contains the following code 0x0000001E, then the cause for the crash is probably within your Nvidia driver. Most users report to receive the nvlddmkm.sys when trying to run some PC game. Sometimes, the crash might occur some time after the game has started and sometimes it will happen right after you’ve tried to launch it. Whatever the case, the method to fix the issue should be the same. In the following short guide we will show you the different steps that you need to execute in order to have the problem solved.

Nvlddmkm.sys BSOD Error in Win10/7 Fix

Top 10 free PDF readers for Windows

1.  Adobe Acrobat Reader

Chances are this is the first program that comes to your mind when you think about a PDF reader. There are several reasons for that. First of all Adobe Systems are the actual creators of the PDF format. Their Adobe Acrobat is currently one of the most popular readers out there. The tool itself is not the fastest one out there, but it has a wide variety of neat features. Apart from many options that improve your reading experience such as bookmarks and tabbed interface, there are also editing functions that allow you to directly change the documents within the reader. However, for the extra editing functions you’d have to download plug-ins that are paid. Still, the reader itself is free and gives you more than enough options.

2. Foxit Reader

Another very popular, heavy-weight PDF reader. Foxit comes packed with several very useful features such as built-in annotation support and the ability to share your PDF files through e-mail and Evernote. Foxit can handle all sorts of PDF documents regardless of how heavy they are. It has several reading modes and many helpful reading functions. And there you have it. Of course, the capabilities of Chrome when it comes to handling PDF files are quite limited, but it is still a very useful feature, especially if you do not feel like installing a dedicated reader tool.

10. Microsoft Edge

Similarly to Chrome, the new Microsoft browser for the latest Windows OS – Win 10, provides the user with the ability to access PDF documents without the need for an actual program for the task. Again, there are not many options to choose from, however, if you are looking for a simple reader that would allow quick access to PDF files, without the need to install any additional software – Microsoft Edge is a perfect choice. What’s even better is the fact that, unlike Chrome, you don’t even need to manually download the browser, since it comes pre-installed with your Windows 10 OS.

How To Disable Windows 10 “Lockscreen”

In this article we will guide you through two possible methods, via which you can fix the issue of disabling your Windows 10 Lock Screen, so that it does not appear when you are trying to login.

The Windows 10 lock screen is a beautiful feature that greets you every time you attempt to either turn on your PC or wake it up from sleep in an attempt to login. The photos in it are updated according to your personal preferences via a feedback system and the images themselves are mesmerizing. However, some users seem to dislike the general login feature and want to have it disabled. If you are one of those users, here we will guide you through two different fixes that will help you remove the lock-screen and go straight to the login screen instead.

How To Disable Windows 10 Lockscreen

Method 1: Using the Local Group Policy Editor

  1. Use the Winkey+R keyboard combination in order to open the Run window.
  2. In the search bar, type gpedit.msc and hit Enter.
  3. Navigate to the following folder: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization.
  4. In the right pane, locate and double-click on Do not display Lockscreen.
  5. Enable that setting in order to activate it, which will in turn disable the lock screen. Press OK and exit the Local Group Policy Editor.1
    • Note: This method will not work on systems that have had the Anniversary update installed. Therefore, if you already have the Windows 10 Anniversary update, try out our second method.

Method 2: Rename the Lockscreen application folder

This method will disable the lock screen in all cases except for when you actually start your machine.

  1. Open your Start Menu and click on Computer.
  2. Go to C > Windows > SystemApps.
  3. Locate the folder labeled Microsoft.LockApp_cw5n1h2txyewy.
  4. Rename that folder to something like Microsoft.LockApp_cw5n1h2txyewy – disabled.2
  5. Now, the Lockscreen app should no longer be able to load from that folder and will in turn be disabled.
  6. If you ever want to re-enable the feature, simply go back to that same folder and rename it back to the way it was – the Lockscreen will be restored.

How to automatically sign in

If you feel comfortable with that, you can set your PC to automatically login so that you won’t even have to click on the Lockscreen, type a password or even click on your account tile at startup. However, know that if you enable this, everyone will have the ability to turn on your PC, so keep this in mind. The following short guide will show you what you need to do:

  1. Once again, use the Winkey+R combination from your keyboard to open Run.
  2. This time, type netplwiz and hit Enter.
  3. In the resulting window, choose the profile that you want to be automatically logged in on startup.
  4. At the top, uncheck the option Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.
  5. Click on OK.                                                     3

And there you have it solved – next time you turn your PC on, it should automatically load into Windows explorer.

Laptop Overheating Explained and Fixes

In the following article, we will go over the most common reasons for laptop overheating as well as show you how to potentially fix this issue and reduce your machine’s temperature.

Laptops are incredibly useful. They provide you with most of the benefits of a desktop computer, while being quite mobile and easy to carry around. With the advance of hardware technologies, you can expect a laptop to have similar amounts of RAM, hard-drive memory and processors as powerful as those of any regular PC. Of course, laptops tend to be a bit more expensive, but on the other hand you get your keyboard, monitor, speakers and even a mouse, all at once with the actual computer. Still, it cannot be denied that laptops are a compromise between the mobility of tablets and smartphones and the capabilities of a regular desktop PC. This means that there is room for a lot of cons that other specialized devices do not have. In this particular article, we will be talking about the tendency of laptops to overheat much faster and easier in comparison to their desktop counterparts.

Where is the difference?

We all know how the case of a regular computer looks. It’s a big, spacious box, with enough room inside it for a big fan and enough vents for air circulation. Some PC’s even have a water-based cooling system, which makes the whole process even more efficient. However, you do not get that with a laptop and it is easy to see why. Laptops are small and lack the room for any big and fancy fans. Also, the air circulation in them is limited. The vent is usually quite small and if you are not careful what surface you put your notebook on, it might not provide the computer with any fresh air (we’ll get to that in a moment). Also, the fact that you do not have a separate keyboard, monitor, speakers and a mouse further contributes to the faster temperature rise of the machine. All in all, laptops are pretty quick to overheat, that is why people who use them need to have a good understanding of how they can minimize the accumulated heat, so that their notebook computer could function properly.

Most common reasons for laptop overheating

There are a lot of things that might have caused your machine to overheat. Sometimes it might even shut down due to high temperature – this is a defense mechanism aimed to prevent any serious damage done by the accumulated heat. Here are the most common things that might have caused this problem:

Video games or other laborious software

It is debatable whether there are gaming laptops and there is a good reason for it. No matter how powerful, expensive and top-notch a laptop is, it will always have certain inherent issues when it comes to gaming. PC games (especially newer ones) are some of the most system resource demanding pieces of software that you can run on your machine. Additionally, most of them require constant interaction with the keyboard and are heavy on almost every aspect of your computer. All of this leads to quick and inevitable overheating of your notebook computer. Still, this does not mean that games cannot be played on a laptop or that it would ruin the device, but it should still be said that if you want to predominantly use your computer for gaming, a laptop might not be the best choice for that task. Also, if your notebook is not very powerful, overheating might be caused by other laborious programs, such as professional video or picture editing software. Also, if your machine has a lot of heavy processes running at once, that you do not really need, it would be a better idea to have them disabled in order to make it easier for your device’s hardware.

Using the wrong surface

It is almost astonishing how many people who use laptops do not know that it is a bad idea to put your machine on anything other than a flat and smooth surface. If you tend to put your notebook on your bed and operate on it like that, this is the perfect recipe for overheating. Blankets, sheets, soft surfaces or anything similar makes it very difficult for the air to properly circulate out of the tiny vent that is usually at the bottom or the side of the device. Laptops should only be used on perfectly flat surfaces, such as tables (without covers), desks or anything similar if you are planning to work for an extended period of time.

  • If you really want to keep your notebook as cool as possible, you can buy a laptop fan stand. Those stands have a big fan that provides your machine with an additional cool flow of air and is also made to minimize the airflow blockage that you would otherwise get if you use some other surface.

Dust blockage

Getting this problem with a laptop is inevitable. No matter what you do, at a certain point the dust that accumulates over the cooling system will become too much for the fan to cool effectively. You can, however, reduce the rate at which dust particle blockage builds up by keeping your machine away from dusty surfaces and rooms and covering the vent with a piece non-dusty clothing when the computer is turned off. Still, even with those precautions, dust will eventually be accumulated. Therefore, you should take your machine to a technician once in a while, who will clean the dust blockage for you. Alternatively, you can disassemble the laptop yourself and wipe the dust build-up from the fan and the rest of the cooling system.

  2. Once you’ve copied all three files, press Winkey+R keys to open the Run window.
  3. In the search box copy and paste the following line: REGSVR32 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSXML.DLL and hit Enter.                                                                          9
  4. Repeat step six with lines C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSXML2.DLL and C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSXML3.DLL.
  5. Restart your machine. The error should no longer be a problem.

32-bit and 64-bit CPU Comparison

The processor is one of the most important components of a computer. One of its main characteristics is the architecture of the process. Today, the two most commonly used types are 32-bit and 64-bit processors with the 64-bit ones becoming increasingly popular and widely spread. In the following article we will go over the main differences between these two types of processors and how you can find out if yours is a 32 or 64-bit one.

32-bit and 64-bit CPU Comparison

For quite some time 32-bit systems have been the most commonly used ones. In fact, 64-bit architecture has been around for quite some time and it is not some kind of novelty. However, due to the lack of support for 64-bit systems, their introduction to the masses has been greatly delayed. Even though Windows XP had both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, the 64-bit lacked proper driver support and very few users opted for that. The same applied to Windows Vista. It was with Windows 7 that 64-bit OS’ became the norm. By that time, most new computer processors where more than capable of handling this new change and having a 32-bit OS would have been a waste of potential. Currently, 32-bit systems are slowly but surely being replaced by their more advanced and efficient counterparts. Hardware is becoming cheaper and if ten years ago having a processor capable of supporting a 64-bit OS would have been quite expensive, today even the lower-end machines can have the more advanced processor architecture.

Why do bits matter?

The architecture of your computer’s processor is what determines how much RAM (random access memory) it can handle and how efficiently it does it. While 32-bit systems can support no more than 4096MB or 4GB, processors that have 64-bit architecture have the capacity to handle an astonishingly large amount of RAM.

  • Theoretically, the maximum capacity for 64-bit processors is 17 billion gigabytes of RAM. Of course, nobody needs such a whopping amount of memory, especially when it comes to regular users, yet having the ability to go over 4GB is a great benefit to 64-bit processors/systems.
  • Being able to go over 4GB is not the only advantage of 64-bit processors. The way they distribute, manage and use your PC’s RAM is much more effective. While 32-bit systems can allocate no more than 2GB of RAM to a single process, regardless of its priority, 64-bit ones can spend up to 8TB! Obviously, this is yet another crazy number, but it just goes to show just how superior this technology is compared to its predecessor.
  • Another great advantage to 64-bit systems is that they use your memory more efficiently. Secondary systems such as your graphics card now use less of your RAM, which in turn contributes to amuch smoother and faster PC working process with greater capabilities. Therefore, with 64-bit systems, every gigabyte of RAM that you add to your machine will be much more worth it and make a much greater difference due to the way it is handled by your processor.

32-bit processors/systems are not obsolete

It is obvious that the more time passes by, the less people use 32-bit processors. After all, if high cost or poor driver support has been an issue in the past, most of these problems have been solved with the newer OS and the rapid decrease of hardware prices. However, this does not mean that 32-bit CPU’s are useless or obsolete and if you do not need your machine for anything special, you should have no problem using older processors with 32-bit CPU architecture. For example, if you only use your computer to check your e-mail, work with Microsoft Office, browse the internet, watch movies or some other task that does not demand high usage of system resources, then a 32-bit system should do just fine. However, if you want anything more than that and especially if your work or leisure requires a powerful machine that can run programs with high system resource demands or newer PC games, then 64-bit is the way to go.

What do you need in order to benefit from 64-bit systems?

There are a couple of things that you need in order to fully experience and enjoy the superiority of the 64-bit technology.

Processor with 64-bit architecture

Obviously, the first thing you need to have is a proper processor. As we mentioned earlier, nowadays getting such a processor is nothing special and even the cheaper ones can support 64-bit operating systems. If you are about to get a new computer, our suggestion is that you look for such a processor. Oftentimes it is worth investing more into a proper CPU at the expense of other PC characteristics, because your processor is both one of the most important computer components and one of the few things that have little to no susceptibility to upgrades and improvements. Therefore, in the long run we believe that getting a CPU with 64-bit architecture is generally the better option, regardless of whether you are planning on casually using your PC for simple tasks or pushing it to its full potential with laborious programs and games.

If you currently have a PC with a 32-bit OS on it, but want to upgrade to a 64-bit one and are wondering whether your CPU can support that, you’ll need to find out what its architecture is. There are a couple of ways you can do this. If you know the model of your processor, you can google it and see its architecture type. You can also check the System Information:

  1. Open Start Menu and type System Information.
  2. Open the first result and look in the right panel where all the info is.
  3. Find the item named System Type.
  4. If it says x64-based PC, then the architecture of your CPU is 64-bit. If the value is x84-based PC, then your PC has a 32-bit processor.

Proper OS version

Even though 64-bit processors are currently the preferred ones, Microsoft has not stopped creating 32-bit versions of its Windows operating systems and supporting them. All of the newer Microsoft OS’ have both a 64-bit and a 32-bit version including the latest member of the Windows family – Windows 10. This means that users that do not have a 64-bit processor can still use a fully supported OS suited for their processor. However, if you want to benefit from the 64-bit architecture of your CPU, you’ll need to make sure that you have the proper Windows version installed on your machine. If you are not sure what version of Windows you are using, here is how you can check:

  1. Open the Start Menu.
  2. Right-click on Computer.
  3. Select Properties.
  4. Look next to System Type – there you can see whether you have a 32-bit or a 64-bit system installed on your PC.
  5. Above that is the amount of RAM your machine has (Installed Memory) in case you need to check that too.

Though this in no way a necessity in order to enjoy the benefits of a 64-bit processor, having a PC with a good amount of RAM is when you can really see the difference. Sure, you can still feel the improvement with even 4GB of RAM or less on a 64-bit system, due to its greater efficiency and effectiveness. However, if your machine has more than 4GB (say 6, 8, 16 and so on) you would be able to fully experience and enjoy the benefits of having a CPU with 64-bit architecture. Besides, RAM is both very cheap and easy to upgrade. Also, the only real upgrade limitation you have is determined by what type of Windows OS you are using and how much RAM your motherboard can support. Just note that Windows Home Editions can be upgraded up to 16 GB and if you’re with a Professional edition, you can go up to 192GB.

Possible cons

Despite the fact that the pros of 64-bit systems greatly outweigh the cons, we still need to mention the few downsides that users might experience with a 64-bit OS.

  • Motherboards that cannot support over 4GB of RAM. This is rare, but there are still some cases when the processor has 64-bit architecture, but the motherboard cannot support more than 4GB. This is not so much of an issue and with a 64-bit version of Windows, you’d still get the other benefits of your CPU. However, you won’t be able to enjoy having big amounts of memory due to the limitations of your motherboard.
  • You might be unable to find drivers for older external devices. If you have gotten a new machine with a 64-bit CPU, but you still want to use that old printer or scanner, it is possible that you won’t be able to get it running on your new PC due to lack of a proper driver. For some people this might be an issue if they really don’t want to replace their older device. Therefore, you should consider this potential drawback if you are about to buy a new computer.
  • There are programs and applications that cannot run on 64-bit systems. Again, a quite rare situation, yet a plausible one. This really shouldn’t be much of a problem, but we need to mention it. There is software that has not transitioned to the new type of system and there are programs that are still not properly suited or supported for 64-bit versions of Windows. Therefore, keep that in mind if you want to use some older application that worked on your previous PC but cannot run on your current machine.

  2. Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
  3. On your iPhone/iPad press and hold both the power button and the home button until the recovery screen appears.
  4. A notification should have appeared on your computer, giving you either the option to update or restore your iPhone/iPad. Select the Update option and wait for your device to update through your computer.
  5. Disconnect your iOS device – it should no longer get bricked.

An alternative to the Slide to Unlock function

Some users have been displeased by the lack of a Slide to unlock option after the recent 10.0.2 update. Though there is no way of getting that back, you can alternatively set your phone to automatically unlock when you hold your finger over the fingerprint scanner instead of having to press the Home button. The following short guide will show you how to do that.

  1. Go to Settings and select General.
  2. Open the Accessibility options.
  3. Tap on the Home Button settings and switch on the option labeled Rest Finger to Open.
  4. Now your device will unlock when you place your finger on the scanner so you don’t need to press the Home button.

Shortened battery life and overheating

Both of those issues are to be expected and usually do not indicate anything wrong with your device. It’s just that your iPhone or tablet needs time to download and install the updates for each of your apps after you’ve upgraded to version 10.0.2. This takes both time and resources and it is also the reason why your device uses more battery and overheats faster. There’s not much you can do about it apart from waiting it out. After a day or two, everything should be back to normal. However, if you insist on reducing the power consumption and potentially making your device overheat less you can check which apps consume the most of its battery and either disable them for the time being, replace them with less demanding alternatives or simply remove them if you think that you don’t really need them. The instructions in the following short guide will show you how you can see which apps require the most battery usage.

  1. Go to the Settings app.
  2. Tap on Battery.
  3. Enable the Show Detailed Usage option.
  4. If you want a broader look, tap on the Last 7 days section.
  5. Now that you can see which apps are the most demanding, you might disable or outright uninstall/replace the ones that drain the most of your device’s energy.
  6. Alternatively, you can enable the Low Power Mode. However, note that this function disables certain iPhone features during the time it is enabled. It might also make your device run slower in order to improve the battery life for the time being.

Wi-fi and Bluetooth problems

This should be an easy fix as well. A simple reset of your network settings should do the trick.

  1. Open Settings and go to General.
  2. Open the Reset options.
  3. Select Reset Network Settings.
  4. Just to be sure, you might want to restart your device. After this the issue with your Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection should have been fixed.

Touch ID not working fix

Sometimes, after the 10.0.2 update your Touch ID might stop working. There is no need to worry though, all you have to do is re-scan your fingerprints and it should be back to normal. Here is what you need to do:

  1. Once again, access the Settings app and go to the Touch ID settings.
  2. Open the Edit option.
  3. Select Delete your fingerprints and then tap on Rescan your fingerprints.
  4. After doing that, do not forget to label your fingerprints.

Echoing Speakers after Windows 10 Anniversary Update Fix

Welcome to our article and its guide on how to fix the issue with echoing speakers after installing the Windows 10 Anniversary update.

With the new Windows 10 Anniversary update a lot of improvements have been made to the latest member of the Windows OS family. However, there are still some noticeable bugs and minor issues that are yet to be resolved with newer updates. Until then, users are forced to put up with those inconveniences or alternatively seek a way to have them solved manually. One such problem that has been recently reported is an unpleasant echoing sound coming out of the speakers (or headphones) of machines that have had the Anniversary update installed on them. Users complain that after the update, the sound from their speakers decreased in quality, while also gaining an irritating echo effect to, it as if the sound was coming from a cave.

Echoing Speakers after Windows 10 Anniversary Update Fix

So far, it seems that the cause for this echoing speakers issue is coming from the Nahimic audio software that some computers come packed with. One notable example is the MSN laptops – this is also where this problem can usually be expected to occur after the update. It seems that Nahimic automatically enables that sound effect after your system is updated and you’d need to revert that. It’s pretty easy and quick – here is a short guide on how to do it.

  1. Open the Start Menu and type Nahimic in the search field.
  2. Click on the first result. This will open the Nahimic control panel where you can see different sound settings.
  3. Probably the setting you should change in order to fix the irritating echoing sound is the Theater effect under the Reverb option. Make sure that you implement the changes in all three sections (music, gaming, and movie).              3
  4. If this is not enough, check the other settings. See if any odd effects have been enabled and disable them.
  5. If you want to fully disable any sound effects or alterations that might have been enforced by the program, you can click on the big Power Button in the middle of the application’s interface. This should turn it off and effectively disable anything that might be causing a disturbance to the sound of your speakers or headphones.           2

In case the irritating echo from the speakers persists or the sound quality is not satisfactory, you might outright uninstall the Nahimic sound interface from your machine. This will remove any added effects coming from the Nahimic software that might be the cause of the your problem. The following guide will show you how you can do that.

  1. Open the Start Menu and type Uninstall a Program.
  2. Click on the first result and take a look at the resulting list of programs that have been installed onto your PC.
  3. Find and right-click on the Nahimic icon.
  4. Select Uninstall and follow the prompts in order to uninstall the program.

This should be enough to fix any problems with echoing sound coming from your speakers or headphones. Let us know if this worked for you!

“Windows Update Client Failed to Detect With Error” Fix

In the following guide you will learn a couple of possible fixes of the irritating “Windows Update Client Failed to Detect With” Error. The guide works for all latest Windows versions.

Windows Update is a very useful feature that automatically updates your system straight from the official Microsoft site. This means that you don’t need to manually download and install every new system update as long as the WU function is enabled. Unfortunately, sometimes this feature might malfunction due to various reasons. In those cases you will be shown an error message that says Windows Update Client Failed to Detect. If you’ve encountered this error, there is an update that is accessible for your PC, but cannot be found by WU. If you want to have your system up-to-date, you’ll need to resolve this minor inconvenience and here we will guide you through two possible methods that you can use to fix it.

“Windows Update Client Failed to Detect With Error” Fix

Fix 1: Re-installing WU

This is basically restarting the function in order to get any bugs and errors out of the way that might have caused the inability of your system to find the update and install it, thus causing the Windows Update Client Failed to Detect problem. Here is what you need to do:

  1. Press Winkey+R from your keyboard to invoke the Run window.
  2. In the search field copy-paste the following line: C:\Windows\System32\Net stop WuAuServ
  3. Press Enter. By doing this, you will stop the Windows Update.
  4. Next thing you need to do is open one of the following links to download the installer for the Windows Update. Take notice of what system you are using.
    • For 32 bit systems use this link.
    • For 64 bit systems use this one.
  1. Once you’ve downloaded the WU installer that corresponds to your Windows version, open it.
  2. After it loads, you’d probably get a message which tells you that an install is not needed, because Windows Update Agent has already been installed on your PC. If that’s the case, right-click on the installer and go to Properties. In there, rename the installer to WindowsUpdateAgent20-x86.exe /wuforce and click on OK.
  3. Now, re-open the installer by double-clicking on it. This time, you should be allowed to carry on with the installation.
  4. Once you’ve installed the Windows Update, re-open the Run window and copy-paste this line C:\Windows\System32\Net start WuAuServThen hit Enter. This will re-enable the WU service and you should no longer get the irritating Windows Update Client Failed to Detect error.

Fix 2: Deleting WU temporary files and folders

If the issue that you’re facing wasn’t solved by the previous fix, you can try this one instead.

  1. Open Run (Winkey+R) and type services.msc.
  2. Hit enter and from the list of services find the one named Windows Update.
  3. Right-click on it and select Properties.
  4. Click on Stop and then on OK.
  5. Go to My Computer\C:\Windows.
  6. Rename the folder SoftwareDistribution to SoftwareDistributionOLD.
  7. Go back to the Services and once again open the Properties of the Windows Update service.
  8. Select Start and then click on OK.

After doing this, you should no longer have problem with the Windows Update Client Failed to Detect error.

D3dx9_27.dll Missing File Fix (Download Location)

Welcome to our article on d3dx9_27.dll missing file error and our guide on how you can possibly fix the irritating issue. We will present you with two potential fixes that you can use to get rid of this error.

Sometimes, when trying to run a certain program (usually a PC game), you might get an error message about a missing .dll file. This is also the case with The file d3dx9_25.dll was not found problem. This issue typically indicates an outdated DirectX End-User Runtime package. Fixing this should be pretty easy and simple and here we will show you how you can resolve the error yourself.

  • Before we move on to the actual guide, we need to inform you that trying to manually search online for the missing file is a bad idea. Sometimes, this method might actually yield satisfactory results, however, it might also expose your PC to online hazards and make it vulnerable to potential security dangers. This is because oftentimes websites that have downloadable versions of such .dll files might prove to be shady and might contain other unwanted software, which you could accidentally download. Also, sometimes there’s more than one .dll file missing and if you go for this method of fixing it, you’d need to separately download each and every one of them, which is annoying and time consuming to say the least.

Now, that we have gotten this out of the way, let’s proceed to the guide manual that will teach you how you can get the error solved on your own.

D3dx9_27.dll Missing File Fix

Fix Method 1: Update DirectX

  1. Go to this link and download the DirectX installer from there. It will update your OS and provide it with whatever DirectX elements it might be missing (note that this is only for Windows 7 users).
    • If you are a Windows 8, 8.1 or 10 user, you shouldn’t have problems with missing .dll files, because new DirectX updates get downloaded and installed onto your PC directly through Windows Update. If you still have this issue, try an in-place upgrade (linked to Repairing PC from bootable DVD/USB flash device).
  1. Choose a language and select Download.

    • On the next page, if you have followed the first link from Step 1, you might want to untick the added downloads if you don’t feel like getting anything else apart from the actual DirectX installer.8
  1. Run the downloaded installer and proceed with the prompts. Wait for the install to finish and Restart your PC.
  2. Once your machine boots back up again, try re-running the game/program you’ve had a problem with and see if the error has been dealt with.

Fix 2: Download the full package of .dll files

An alternative solution to the previous method would be to download the package with all .dll files and manually extract the ones that you need. Do this in case the update has not solved the issue.

  1. Follow this link to the official Microsoft site.
  2. Download the DirectX package from there and create a folder where you’re going to extract the files.
  3. Open the executable you’ve just downloaded and accept the license terms.
  4. When asked to choose a folder, browse to the folder you’ve created in Step 2 and extract the files there.11
  5. Now open the said folder and seek the .cab file named Aug2005_d3dx9_27. There should actually be two files, one for 32 bit systems named Aug2005_d3dx9_27_x86.cab and one for 64 bit systems named Aug2005_d3dx9_27_x86.cab.
  6. Open the file that corresponds to your system’s version and right-click on the d3dx9_27.dll file.
  7. Select Extract, browse to C:\Windows\SysWOW64 (or 32 respectively) and then press OK.10
  8. Try running the game again. If it still shows the error, extract the missing d3dx9_27.dll file in the game directory as well, since sometimes those files are required within the game folder for it to function properly.
