In this article we are going to try and help you remove Ads by Browser Extension. Our instructions cover all Windows versions as well as most browsers – Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer etc.
There is hardly anything more irritating than the popping up ads you see, while trying to use your browser. What’s even more bothering could be the fact that these ads affect all the browsers that you have installed on your computer – Firefox, Chrome, Explorer. The software that might be the reason for all of that is called Adware and this particular article is about a specific version of it – Ads by Browser Extension.
Ads by Browser Extension specifics
As an Adware program, Ads by Browser Extension’s typical behavior represents the regular production of pop-ups, banners, tabs, boxes and/or other kinds of online advertisements inside your browser windows. Usually these ads cannot harm your PC in any way, they could just slow it down in case too many are generated at the same time. Still, if the intensity of their generation is too high, you might become completely unable to use your browsers as they will be fully covered with ads. Fortunately, no Adware version falls into the category of malware. Ads by Browser Extension is not close to any typical virus type – neither Ransomware, nor Trojans. Those normally cause great trouble like stealing banking credentials and draining your savings; copying your social media credentials and hacking your personal accounts, pretending to be you and possibly performing some illegal activities on your behalf. No encryption of data, no ransom-requesting messages and harassment could come from an infection with Adware.
Why could it be regarded as a potentially unwanted program then?
Some of the features typical of Adware could seem a little more obtrusive than normal. For instance, some Adware types might have the ability to keep track of your browsing activities like your most recent search requests. Once the Adware has access to such information, it could be able to adjust the stream of the produced advertisements to your personal taste and interests. However, this activity often raises questions regarding its legality. Not only are all types of Adware quite harmless, but they are also legitimate. They are just simple advertising tools that are exploited for promoting various products, just like radio or TV ads. The producers of goods and the providers of services are interested in such programs so that their products could be promoted in the best way. Then the software developers who create such Adware-based products program them to generate as many pop-up ads as possible and all of this happens legally.
In case you don’t know how you have come across such a program…
Such programs cannot infect your computer on their own, they are not viruses and they lack the malicious capability to sneak into someone’s PC. That’s why it is more likely that you have unknowingly incorporated that program into your PC. This may happen in many ways, the most common of which are listed below.
- Probably you have downloaded a free bundle (a combination of interesting free programs) and you have installed it either using the Default installation feature or any other that provides a quick or easy installation. In this way the whole content of the bundle is not presented to you and you don’t get the chance to choose which programs exactly to install and which to leave behind.
- It is also possible that you have opened a contagious website or a fake ad and by just clicking somewhere inside them, you have got Ads by Browser Extension as a bonus automatically.
- Another option is that you have recently downloaded and used a contaminated torrent or some kind of shareware.
- Adware might also come from spam, so probably you have mistakenly opened a letter or downloaded an attachment from your email.
How to avoid Ads by Browser Extension efficiently
Here we have created a set of helpful prevention tips, which will assist you in avoiding future infections with Adware-type programs. What we have found useful in this case is the following:
- As banal as it sounds, simply stay away from the possible sources, meaning that you should avoid spam, program bundles and shady-looking torrents at all costs.
- If you really want to use a program from a bundle for free and really find it necessary to install one, do it in the best possible way: by completing the installation process in the Custom or Advanced way. These options give you the chance to select only the programs that you really want to use and to just avoid installing the others, including the possible ad-generating program.
- Your computer really deserves the best anti-virus program, so purchase it. Don’t be stingy when it comes to Internet safety and security and you won’t regret spending a little more money.
