Step 1: Unless you are already logged in as the Administrator, please log out of your Guest/Visitor account and log back with the Administrator account.
Step 2: Head over to Microsoft’s official website and find the blue button called “Get the Anniversary update now”. Click the button – this will download the official Update Assistant.
Step 3: Once downloaded, run the file. In the window that opens, click on Update now.
Step 4: The Update Assistant will start checking your system and will place a check mark beside each of the categories that your system passes (CPU, RAM, disk space). Once all three check marks have been placed, click Next to start the update download.
Step 5: As soon as the download is complete, you will be prompted to restart your computer. Close any programs you have open and save all unfinished work, then click Restart now. This will restart your PC several times.
Step 6: Log in as the Administrator. You will see a screen informing you of new privacy settings, which you can change by clicking Customize, if you so choose. If you don’t want to change anything, simply click on Use Express settings.
Step 7: Go to the Privacy section and turn off any options you don’t want active, then click Next. You will be given three connectivity options, which you can turn off as well. This will be followed by three browser security settings. Don’t worry about those, you can leave them turned on. You can always come back and edit these settings in the Windows 10 Settings app, but for now just click Next. The Anniversary Update will be installed shortly after this.
