Commongood Careers: Talent Initiative Competition

   /   Jul 19th, 2011National, News

For an organization to successfully achieve its social mission, it’s essential to have skilled and dedicated staff members on board; talent creates social change.

Commongood Careers is a consulting firm that helps nonprofits find the personnel they need. Their new Talent Initiative, supported by a partnership with the White House and seed money from funders like Kellogg, Kresge, and Skoll, aims to help organizations make the best use of human capital while they go through growth spurts or transformational initiatives. They’ve teamed up with AchieveMission for “Talent Initiative 2.0” which will select six nonprofits to go through their capacity-building machine, a high-impact consulting program, and come out the other side as more effective organizations.

Nonprofits can apply through a competitive Request for Proposals process, which is due by August 31, 2011, and can be downloaded here.

The Talent Initiative program runs over the course of six months, and starts off with an assessment of a nonprofit’s leadership, management, and cultural dynamics.  Next, a strategic planning process occurs in which a plan is developed for talent recruitment, management, development, and retention. The program closes with several months of training meant to prepare the organization for implementing a Strategic Human Capital Plan.
